West Michigan June Activities!

School is almost out and there are lots of great activities happening this June to keep the whole family entertained!  Here are just a couple activities happening this month for kids and adults!

Fulton Street Farmers Market

When: Wednesday, Friday & Saturday’s from 8 am – 2 pm

Where: Fulton Street (Grand Rapids)

With 118 outdoor booths and an additional 9 indoor booths the market hosts an amazing assortment of fruits, vegetables, meats, dairy and hand-crafted foods.

Jazz in the Park

When: Monday’s from 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm

Where: Millennium Park Meadows (Walker)

Come and listen to the classic sounds of America’s original genre of music…jazz. There is free parking & food vendors nearby as well.

Food Truck Friday’s

When: Friday’s starting at 5 pm

Where: Riverside Park near the disc golf course (Grand Rapids)

Event is family friendly so bring a blanket and your pet and enjoy the food and company. All trucks in attendance take credit cards. Most trucks offer Vegan options and some Gluten Free option.

Lids for Kids

When: Saturday, June 1st

Where: Garfield Park (Grand Rapids)

Trained professionals and volunteers will properly fit each child with a free bike helmet and share helpful bicycle safety tips. Children in attendance and wearing their new helmet may also fill out a raffle ticket for entrance into a drawing with tons of prizes and a chance to win a FREE bike! With opportunities to meet local law officials and firefighters, tour a fire engine, and fun activities and games, there’s something for every kid and kid at heart!

Critter Barn Family Night

When: Thursday, June 6th from 4 pm – 7 pm

Where: Urban Roots Community Farm (Grand Rapids)

At this free event meet various kinds of goats, sheep, rabbits, chickens and chicks.  There’ll be crafts and games for the whole family as well as u-pick strawberries from their strawberry patch (pints $2 & quarts $3).

Blandford Nature Center Free Friday

When: Friday, June 7th from 9 am – 5 pm

Where: Blandford Nature Center (Grand Rapids)

Go to see the wildlife, hike the trails, visit the farm and more! All visitors will receive free general admission on the first Friday of each month throughout the summer to explore all of the opportunities Blandford has to offer.

Movies on Monroe (Beetlejuice & Bohemian Rhapsody)

When: Friday, June 7th gates open at 6 pm, pre-movie entertainment beings at 6:30 and movie starts at 7:30

Where: 555 Monroe Ave (Grand Rapids)

Movies on Monroe is the premier outdoor film series in Grand Rapids. Films will be presented – free of charge – on a giant video wall along the banks of the Grand River every other Friday from June thru August. Guests are invited to treat the evening like a picnic and bring your own blanket, chairs, and snacks for a special night under the stars. Food will also be available for purchase from local food trucks.

Grand Rapids Festival of the Art – 50 Year Celebration

When: Friday, June 7th – Sunday, June 9th

Where: Calder Plaza (Grand Rapids)

This three-day festival will include cultural cuisine and artwork for purchase, art activities for kids and dance and musical performances.

Be My Neighbor Day

When: Saturday, June 8th from 11 am – 6 pm

Where: Madison Square @ Hall Street (Grand Rapids)

In honor of Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood and the new generation of Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood, they’re bringing together friends and community partners in a fun-filled Saturday festival sharing with families how to be a caring neighbor.

Summer Fun Kick Off Carnival

When: Monday, June 10th from 4:30 pm – 6:30 pm

Where: KDL Walker Branch

Start of the summer reading program, play games for prizes and enjoy lots more carnival-style fun.  There’ll be local mascots, food trucks, games, and activities!

Big Bounce America

When: Friday, June 14th thru Sunday, June 16th from 11 am – 7 pm

Where: DeltaPlex Arena & Conference Center (Grand Rapids)

Big Bounce America is the largest touring inflatable theme park in the entire world! Prepare for an action-packed day that appeals to all ages, featuring some of the most unique and exciting custom-built inflatable attractions ever built. Tickets are $15-17 for kids & it’s free for adults (unless you want to enter any inflatable attraction with your child, you will need a ticket, which are $20 for adults).

616 Day

When: Sunday, June 16th from 11 am – 6:16 pm

Where: Downtown Market (Grand Rapids)

Shop the 616 Day outdoor market filled with local vendors selling homemade and homegrown West Michigan goods! There will be Market Hall specials costing only $6.16. This is a day all about eating, celebrating, and shopping local!

Movies on Monroe (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse & A Star is Born)

When: Friday, June 21st gates open at 6 pm, pre-movie entertainment beings at 6:30 and movie starts at 7:30

Where: 555 Monroe Ave (Grand Rapids)

Visser Family YMCA Buck Creek 5k Run & Walk

When: Saturday, June 29th at 8 am

Where: Grandville Middle School

There is also a Kid’s Dash for ages 2 thru 7 so the whole family can run! The course winds around the neighborhoods of Grandville and ends at the Grandville Middle School.
